Durante los 4 maravillosos y lluviosos años que viví en Inglaterra, escuché cientos de expresiones muy útiles en inglés, que los nativos usaban constantemente y con las que jamás me había cruzado en ninguno de mis libros de texto. Mis profes de inglés, se centraron en enseñarnos la gramática y en prepararnos para aprobar exámenes de Cambridge University, pero no nos enseñaron a hablar el inglés real que hablan los nativos en el día a día. Such a shame! Thank goodness you have Amigos Ingleses.
De ahí mi sorpresa al mudarme a Inglaterra y empezar a escuchar expresiones diariamente que me sonaban a chino. Aquí te dejamos unas expresiones que escucharás si te das un paseo por el Reino Unido y que te recomendamos empezar a usar para darle naturalidad a tu speaking y decirle bye-bye para siempre al inglés robótico.
1. What have you been up to?
EXAMPLE…
Tom: Hey Peter! How are you? I haven’t seen you for ages! What have you been up to?
Peter: I’m great, thanks for asking! Nothing much really, I’ve been working and studying for my exams, so quite busy lately as you can imagine.
2. Can you lend me a couple of quid?
EXAMPLE…
Joe: Emma can you lend me a couple of quid? I’d like to get a few more beers from the shop.
3. Oh dear!
EXAMPLE…
Emma: Mary is not coming to the mountains tomorrow. She fell off her bike and broke her leg.
Rachel: Oh dear, poor Mary. That must have hurt a lot.
4. Cheers mate!
EXAMPLE…
Jason: Can you give me a lift to the airport? I’m off to Spain for my holiday.
Craig: Of course Jason, no problem.
Jason: Cheers mate.
5. I beg your pardon!
EXAMPLE…
Husband: I think you have been lying to me all this time. You don’t love me anymore!
Wife: I beg your pardon?
6. See you in a bit!
EXAMPLE…
Your English Friend: I’m going to have lunch now so I’ll see you in a bit.
7. Can I get a latte please?
EXAMPLE…
Bar tender: What can I get you?
You: Hi, can I get a latte please?
8. Chill out
EXAMPLE…
Mum: Hurry up! We’re going to be late for your dentist appointment!
Daughter: Chill out mum, we still have plenty of time and they always make you wait.

Sam: We had a meeting with the manager last week to complain about the conditions of the new contract, but Robert didn’t even open his mouth!

10. It's a piece of cake!
EXAMPLE…
Kate: I’m a bit nervous about my driving test tomorrow.
James: Really? It’s a piece of cake, you will be absolutely fine.

Me podria explicar el número dies de las frases, It’s a piece of cake traducido es (Es un trozo de tarta) pero en el vuestro está (Está chupado (muy fácil).
La otra frase es To be such a + (adjective) + noun,no lo entendi.

Hi Miguel. Thanks, we are glad you found this useful. ‘Gente’ es plural en inglés (como ‘they’) así que usamos ‘do/don’t’. Por ejemplo… ‘People don’t study English enough.’ (La gente no estudiaNNN inglés suficiente). 😉
yo tengo una duda. Como se pronuncia la palabra “latte”, de la frase “Can I get a latte please?”, ¿Se pronuncia como en italiano?
