Si vas a quedar para practicar tu inglés con tu tandem, es mucho más probable que te pregunte: “Where do you wanna meet?” en lugar de “Where do you want to meet?”
Do you wanna learn some amazeballs English? Let’s begin!
Contracciones informales en inglés
Dunno – I don’t know
- Where are my keys? – I dunno, but they can’t have gone too far.
- What do you fancy for dinner Isabel?- I dunno, sushi? Pizza? I’m easy!
- I dunno whether to laugh or cry.
Gimme – give me
- Gimme a minute, I need to phone my sister.
- Can you gimme a hand darling?
- Just gimme your email address and I’ll send you all the details.
Turn the volume right up! 🎶
Gonna – going to
- I’m gonna have a barbecue at mine tomorrow, are you up for it?
- I’m just gonna pop to the shops, do you want anything?
- Is he not gonna apologise?
Gotta – have got to
- I’ve gotta get my groceries before they close the shop.
- You’ve gotta tell him the truth.
- We’ve gotta be at the airport before 5 p.m.
- I have got to go now.
- I ‘ve gotta go now.
- I gotta go now.
Si te lías con have y have got, you’ve gotta watch this video sobre la diferencia entre have y have got.
Hafta – have to
You’re gonna hafta lend me some money because I’ve lost my wallet.
Pero ahí había 2 contracciones. Gonna, going to que acabamos de ver y hafta, have to.
Ok, no problem but you hafta give it back with interest.
Innit – isn’t it?
- England is a lovely country, innit?
- That’s a good deal, innit?
- It’s a bit chilly in here, innit?
Esta última frase, en ‘polite British English’, en realidad quiere decir: “Can you put the bloody heating on? I’m freezing to death!” 😂
💂♂️ bloody = maldito
Kinda – kind of
Tiene varios significados:
👉 ¿Qué tipo de …?
- What kinda books do you read?
- What kinda person is he?
- What kinda tea do you drink?
👉 Un poco, algo.
You look kinda sad, what’s the matter?
The new British Prime Minister is kinda weird, isn’t he?
This coffee tastes kinda salty, doesn’t it?
Lemme – let me
“Oh lemme give you a hand madam.”
Otros ejemplos:
- Lemme see if I have some spare change.
- I’m not sure, lemme give Susan a call.
Wanna – want to
- I wanna get a new laptop, this one couldn’t be any slower!
- You wanna go for a coffee after work?
- Do you wanna help me set the table? – No thanks, I’m pretty comfortable lying on the sofa.
Wansta – wants to
- I think the dog wansta go out.
- My mum wansta invite all of her cousins to my wedding.
- She wansta go to the movies and eat some cotton candy.

Lemme tell you a little story that happened a few years ago to a little girl named Emily… It was a sunny day when a beautiful and cozy coffee shop was opened in my hometown. She kinda wanted to get inside in order to see what kind of drinks or desserts they had displayed, however things started to get dark when a little dog went crazy and started to push everybody breaking the plates with cute cupcakes and stuff. I really dunno what I would do if I found myself there. Pretty crazy anecdote, innit?
Great post!

Here it comes! Real story in in a Party with my boyfriend in USA in front of all his friends!
We got to the party and had to take off the shoes, I was wearing boots, so I said.
Diana: ey honey, here are my boots, do you wanna grab them ? and everyone laughted!
I tought (what the hell I just said), of course I said boobs not boots!!
Isabel and Philip I think the pronunciation of these contractios are stronger in Amerca than in the UK even in films in the UK they don’t use them but in american movies they do
I only knew Dunno and Innit? One day in a British pub a man told me:
