¡La misma frase, diferente significado! 🙈
‍

Are you ready to find out? Let’s begin!

Frases en inglés con doble significado

1. Shut up!

“My mum just found a bag with five thousand dollars in it under the bed in her hotel room.”“

“Shut up!”

2. I don’t buy it

👉 Lo que estás pensando: no lo compro.

🙉 Nuevo significado: no me lo creo, no me convence.

“He says he’s not coming to class because he’s ill again, but I don’t buy it.”

3. Tell me about it

👉 Literalmente: cuéntamelo, cuéntame sobre ello.

🙉 Nuevo significado: dímelo a mí, me lo vas a decir a mí, qué me vas a contar a mí.

“This part of the city is so noisy, there’s always so much traffic!” “Tell me about it! I live just round the corner from here.”

4. I see where you’re coming from

“The reason why you feel so sleepy is because you keep snoozing your alarm for 30 minutes.” “Right, I see where you’re coming from.”

“So, you think honey is vegan friendly? Well it’s not. Honey is made by bees for bees, and their health can be sacrificed when it is harvested by humans.”

“Sorry, but I don’t see where you’re coming from.”

5. At the end of the day

“It’s ok to have an accent when you speak English, at the end of the day, what really matters is being able to communicate.”

6. I can’t help it

👉 Lo que estás pensando: no puedo ayudarlo. Si ves a un gatito callejero (stray cat) y te lo quieres llevar a casa, pero tu hermano tiene alergía, dirías: “I’m so sorry, I can’t help it”.

“Can you please stop biting your nails? You’re getting on my nerves!” “Sorry, but I can’t help it!”

7. He/ she’s so fit!

“That guy you were talking to was really fit, who is he?” “Oh that’s James, my new assistant!” “Lucky you!”

8. That’s sick

👉 Significa: qué asco, es repugnante.

🙉 Pero también: qué pasada, sensacional, genial.

“Look at this photo of me skydiving.” “Oh my goodness, that’s sick!”

Eso es todo por hoy ‘friends’! We hope you enjoyed this mini lesson! 💂‍♂️
