Trust me!
Zero, first, second and third conditional. Are you ready for it? Let’s begin!
Zero conditional
👉 Se usa para:
– Hablar de verdades universales.
– Dar instrucciones u órdenes.
👉 Estructura
👉 Ejemplos:
- If you don’t wash your socks, they smell bad.
- If you don’t put suncream on, you burn yourself.
- If I sleep for 8 hours, I feel fresh.
I feel fresh when I sleep for 8 hours.
Para dar instrucciones u órdenes:
- If you come late, don’t make noise.
- If she calls again, tell her I am busy.
First conditional
👉 Ejemplos:
- If you don’t clean the house, you‘ll (will) sleep on the sofa.
- If I sleep on the sofa, I won’t (will not) sleep well.
We’ve got your back.
Recuerda usar las contracciones: I’ll, you’ll, he’ll, she’ll, it’ll, we’ll, you’ll they’ll. Así sonarás mucho más como un nativo.
Second conditional
👉 Ejemplos:
- If I won the lottery, I would move to Japan.
- If he were his father, I wouldn’t allow such behaviour.
- If I were a man, I would wear colourful ties.
Third conditional
– Una situación imaginaria en el pasado.
– Arrepentimiento.
👉 Estructura
👉 Ejemplos:
- If you hadn’t been looking at your phone, you wouldn’t have burnt my toast.
- If I hadn’t left you in charge of breakfast, you wouldn’t have burnt my toast.
Mixed conditionals
If you had remembered to feed your cat, he wouldn’t be so hungry now.
If I hadn’t carried so much stuff, I wouldn’t have a back ache now.
If she hadn’t invited me to that meeting , I would probably be still unemployed.
If you had remembered to feed your cat, he wouldn’t have been so hungry.
And now it’s practice time … YAY!
